Each stage of Party Wave consists of Paddling and Surfing tasks. The paddling task is to get surfers to the surf-breaking spot while avoiding sea creatures such as dolphins, turtles and jellyfishes. The surfing task is to make surfers turn and catch air without wiping out.
All distinctive characters are designed by Kimihiko Fujisaka. There is a time limited Arcade Mode as well as the regular stages. Also there are boss monsters, secret characters and hidden stages connected from a gathering place.
